I spent 4 months at Playground LA as the Visual Effects & Graphics Supervisor on a documentary about New Line Cinema's 40 Years of movie making. Guiding a team of 7 artists through hundreds of HD animations and visual effects shots and delivering on time was challenging and rewarding.
Using 10 lightning fast PCs with Photoshop and After Effects, we created tons of whimsical animations in After Effects 3D space including full screen animations and CG backgrounds for Charlie Rose to appear on.
The huge library of assets from the New Line archives required a smaller team to organize and track all the photographs, poster art, packaging, newspaper articles, magazine articles, interviews, and movie clips.
We used AE to track all our animated "video screen" backgrounds and Keylight to do temporary keys on the green screen footage of Rose. Once shots were timed and approved, we rendered full HD backgrounds and
sent the animated graphics to another team for final keying and compositing of Charlie Rose.
Audio sweetening and music were then added in finishing on Avid Symphony Nitris and output to HDCAM.
